"Fentanyl is here, and it is here to stay."
Darryl Burrell, a Bmore POWER Coordinator, and the Bmore POWER team, has spent the last three years encouraging people who use drugs to test their drugs for fentanyl and to "Go Slow."
"Go Slow" is a harm reduction campaign started by Phaedra Ward, a Bmore POWER member, poet and community leader who passed away in 2018. Go Slow was initiated to help inform people who use drugs about in response to the rise in deadly fentanyl overdoses in Baltimore.
Since then, Darryl has led Bmore POWER's outreach team as they pass out Narcan, fentanyl test strips and connect community to the resources they want.
